MANILA, Philippines — Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) Chair Prospero de Vera III has urged the Pamantasan ng Cabuyao president to issue a clarification about its “English-only policy” after it drew widespread backlash.
De Vera III also advised the university chief to issue a statement to the media to explain this policy.
Article continues after this advertisement“I have already talked to the Pamantasan ng Cabuyao president to understand the basis and intent of his proposed policy,” de Vera told reporters in a Viber message on Wednesday.

Chua said in a Facebook post on Tuesday: “English only to be globally competitive? Que horror!”
“He’s the only one active of the five Albotras in our system. Definitely, he will be considered as one of the persons that the PNP will be investigating. To be fair to him, although he says he isn’t the one being referred to, he will be questioned with respect to this case.” added Fajardo.
